Athens Christian Church is a congregation that believes strongly in education. From the youngest to the oldest, our members are dedicated to the study of the Bible in age-appropriate manners. Families can be confident that everyone will have a learning experience, and anyone is welcome to drop in on any Sunday for any lesson. Sunday school classes start at 9:45 AM, and each class is crafted for a particular age:
- Home-Fellowship (education wing): Nathan Gilmour leads adults in a course of in-depth conversation while reading carefully through one book of the Bible at a time. Handouts for Nathan’s lessons are available at his personal website.
- High School (education wing): Jim Rose prepares our young adults for their lives as mature believers with a strong curriculum of Bible reading and intense discussion.
- Middle School (education wing): Tiena Thacker provides a strong background in the Bible suited for those moving out of elementary school and towards high school.
- Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade (education wing): Frank Eberhart builds up Bible literacy for our elementary-school set.
- Preschool to Second Grade (education wing): Bonita Eberhart teaches Bible stories with storytelling and hands-on craft activities.
- Toddlers (education wing): Mary Gilmour and Diana Coon provide an introduction to the stories of the Bible and fun songs (plus some much-needed play time) for our two- to three-year-olds.
- Nursery (just down the hall from the sanctuary): Responsible adults will make sure that our youngest friends get all the attention, nap time, and diaper changes that an infant ought to have.
